My experiments in kitchen continue this weekend.(I plan to blog the butternut squash soup experience someday)
- Red Lentil Soup: Fry onion, add sliced tomatos, dried herbs, salt pepper and ofcourse red lentils add vegetable stock/broth..hawkins ki sitti...blend if desired.
- Pudina-Dhaniya-Mango chutney: Get some Pudina(Mint) and equal dhaniya(Cilantro), She-loves me, she loves me not. Repeat until she can love you. Throw the rest. Get half (Kachcha) Mango, peel and dice. The trick part: Don't fill your blender with all the ingredients. Remember, with great patience comes great cooking. Throw in a little(just above the blades) of everything above, add thai-chillis, ginger and garlic. When it's pasty enough add more. Repeat until. If desired, add little lemon juice.
- Curried Tofu Scramble. Fry cumin seeds(jeera) and chopped onion and till onion is light brown. Prepare some diced Tofu(author recommends Silken Lite Tofu, extra firm). Name each piece as one of the person you hate. Add turmeric and red pepper to the browned onion. Throw in tofu. Mix and mash/crush your enemies with passion. Let cook and season to taste.
- Aloo Baingan: I am not sharing this one. Turned out too good to share.

Finally cooked! EeHaw!
Here is your one on one on how to make Desi sabzi via Thai curry using Mexican ingredients.
- Start out with Fajita Mix Pre-pack from Whole Foods Market.
- Heat olive oil in hawkin's pressure cooker(no biwi no "prestige").
- Add the sliced onions from the Fajita mix and stir fry till light brown.
- Add a little turmeric and mix vigorously.
- Steal a moment to check in the mirror that the new apron looks good on you.
- Chew the piece of onion that fell outside the cooker on the stove(apply 5 seconds rule)
- Add freshly chopped garlic, ginger and green chillies.
- Throw in one sliced tomato and cover-up your sloppy slicing by mashing it with the big spoon.
- Cover and let it cook, in the mean time get the electric can opener to open the coconut milk can.
- Give a puzzled look at what you see inside. That white rock used to be coconut milk?
- Curse everyone but yourself.
- Sulk and touch the cover of hawkins to check.
- Dance around the house and curse more. (Apply cold running water... blah blah)
- Realize you messed up, change of plan.
- Add fried jeera, dhana and garam masala
- Add potato followed by red and green bell pepper from the Fajita Mix.
- Mix. Mix. Mix. No, no five seconds rule.
- Feel hunger pangs
- Fetch more tomatoes(now that you dont have coconut milk).
- Chop as fast as you can.
- Add to the mix, dont worry about mashing.
- Close the hawkins covers.
- Make sure its on Med. and wait...(prepare rice?)
- Dont touch the "seeTi"!
- ....
- ....
- Ok touch.
- Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Hawkins ki seeTi baje, khushboo ki mahek uDe
Mazedaar lajjatdar khana hai taiyaar
Serve while hot over rice. Add the dhaniya patti from the Fajita Mix on the top.
While trying to bring this to you, yours truly tried really hard to come up with an expandable box to decrease the length of this blog. Unfortunately (and quite stupidly) MSN spaces doesnt allow to add global jscript to the page. Damn!
